Elizabeth Chamberlain, AICP, planning manager for the City of Auburn, recently received the Barbara Grace Award from the Washington Chapter of the American Planning Association.

On Oct. 6, Chamberlain was recognized by more than 100 of her peers at the Washington Chapter’s annual meeting. The award is given annually to a professional planner who has distinguished her or himself with dedication to public service and professional accomplishment, who help “Make Great Communities Happen” and represent the future leadership of the planning profession.

Chamberlain has more than seven years of professional experience, four of those years with the City of Auburn. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). In her current position, she manages current and long range planning activities for the City and is the lead staff person for downtown planning and development activities. Chamberlain is the project manager for the City Hall Plaza renovation project and the South Division Street Promenade project.

Kevin Snyder, Planning & Development Department Director, nominated Chamberlain for this award because of her multiple accomplishments on behalf of the City and her leadership in the Planning & Development Department.
