Auburn poet Baudelio Llamas' work has been selected to grace a King County RapidRide bus.

Auburn poet Baudelio Llamas’ work has been selected to grace a King County RapidRide bus.

Llamas, originally from Lázaro Cárdenas, Mexico, wrote “My Home”, one of 125 poems out of 600 submissions a panel of respected poets selected to go on the buses in a 4Culture contest.

Poets were called to submit a poem of 50 words or less on the theme, “Writing Home” in the Poetry on Buses program, managed by 4Culture and King County.

All together, 365 poems appear on poetryonbuses.org, where a poem is published every day for a year. The last poem will go up Nov. 9, but the site will stay up for one more year.

4Culture has been putting poetry on King County buses since 1992.

In addition, Llamas reads his poem on Halloween at the Dia De Muertos festival in Seattle Center.

For more information on the festival, visit www.4culture.org.

Llamas’ poem follows:

My Home

How beautiful my home is surrounded by mountains, hills,
trees and water reservoirs.
Far away from civilization, my mail will be delivered late,
there is no mail delivery where I live.
We must go to the nearest town. To visit the mailman,
he will deliver a letter which will make us all happy.
