Jan. 3

Beyond acceptable moochery: 12:25 p.m., 500 Auburn Way S. Police arrested a man for aggressive begging on Auburn Way South.

Fraud: 1:42 p.m., 10 block of Third Street Northwest. A subject falsely used a business name to obtain insurance, for which said suspect did not pay.

Burglary: 3 p.m., 2 16th St. NE. A man told police that burglars had hit his storage unit sometime in the past several days, nabbing in the process a large flat-screen television and photography equipment, among other things.

Theft: 5:30 a.m., 4000 block of Kersey Way Southeast. An Auburn resident reported the theft of an undisclosed amount of copper wire from an Icon mine site. Police did not disclose a value for the missing wire.

Vandalism: 6 p.m., 1402 Supermall Way SW. Vandals unknown took out their passions and aggressions on a number of hapless signs along Supermall Way Southwest.

Jan. 4

Controlled substance: 2:13 p.m., 401 W. Main St. Authorities at West Auburn High School suspended a student from school, and prosecutors plan to charge the kid with possessing eight baggies of marijuana.

Shoplifting: 4:09 p.m., 801 Auburn Way N. Two women swiped a cart full of beauty products from Fred Meyer and fled. Police valued the prettifying products at $278.

Jan. 5

Trespassing: 9:05 a.m., 3830 A St. SE. Police cited a man for being at a local shopping center where he’d worn out his welcome by carrying out frowned-upon acts undisclosed.

Burglary: 5:58 p.m., 7200 block of Lindsey Avenue Southeast. Somebody, or several somebodies, broke into a storage unit while the owner of its contents was away and stole about $11,879 worth of property.

Shoplifting: 5:40 p.m., 1702 Auburn Way N. Police arrested a 14-year-old girl caught stealing several items of make-up and walking out of Top Food & Drug without troubling herself with that business of paying first.

Credit Card ATM Fraud: 6 p.m., 1314 Auburn Way N. A man discovered that somebody had stolen his wallet from the locker room at a local fitness club and used several of his credit cards.

Jan. 6

Vandalism: 8:45 p.m., 1200 block of 68th Loop Southeast. Police arrested 24-year-old man after he screamed profanities, rammed his knees into a parked car and slammed his head again and again into a garage door at the same house. Police did not disclose a motive for these acts.

Jan. 7

Assault: 1:20 p.m., 2826 Auburn Way N. Amidst laundry detergent and fabric softener, dirty socks and clean jockey shorts, two men got into a midday fight at the Down Home Laundry. One of the guys left the scene before police arrived, but the other went to a hospital with a broken nose and other facial injuries. Nobody wanted to cooperate with the police. Police did not say why the men were fighting.
