Jan. 6

Ticket taker: 8:42 a.m., 101 Auburn Way S. Some would-be-ticket thief tried to abscond with scratch lottery tickets from Safeway.

Weapons offense: 7:33 a.m., 900 block of Oravetz Road Southeast. According to police, “a suspicious circumstance was investigated,” leaving the public to exercise its imagination as to what that “suspicious circumstance” might have been.

Theft: Overnight, 400 block 8th Street Southeast. An unknown suspect smashed the rear window of a Chevy Blazer and stole a speaker.

Trespassing: 1:10 a.m., 1102 Auburn Way S. For snoozing therein, police booted a man from the Auburn Library.

Theft: 2:47 p.m., 29224 51st Avenue S. Authorities found a boy at Thomas Jefferson High School with stolen mail.

Auto theft: 8:21 p.m., 1101 Outlet Collection Way SW. A man saw another man stealing his truck from an area store but could not move fast enough to prevent the theft.

DUI: 9:48 a.m., 3235 Auburn Way S. A woman police arrested for driving under the influence after she’d hit another vehicle had nearly four times the legal limit of booze sloshing about in her system.

Jan. 8

Theft: 2:27 p.m., 5110 Frontage Road. Somebody stole a van and a trailer from U-Haul, value undisclosed.

Rum rip off: 2;27 p.m., 1509 Auburn Way S. An unknown male swiped a bottle of rum from a store, ran outside, got into a waiting vehicle and left the area.

Theft: 2 p.m., 110 block Clay Street Northwest. Copper wire thieves stole copper wire, value undisclosed.

Jan. 9

Commercial burglary: Overnight, 915 26th St. NE. Somebody burglarized a construction trailer in Auburn.

Marijuana: 9:13 a.m., 501 Oravetz Road SE. Police busted a kid for having a marijuana derivative at school.

Theft: 10 p.m., 1243 Auburn Way S. An employee of Pizza Hut reported that the business had been getting fraudulent online orders.

Theft: Overnight, 12200 block of Southeast 284th St. Thieves stole a dump trailer valued at $14,500.

Jan. 11

Warrant: 5:38 a.m., Auburn. Police arrested a youth on a confirmed DSHS warrant for rape of a child and booked him into King County Juvenile detention.

Shoplifting: 1:52 p.m., 1101 Outlet Collection Way SW. Despite a man’s best efforts to steal a jacket from Marshalls at the Outlet Collection Mall and get away with it, police busted him a short distance from the store, booked him for theft and returned the jacket to the store.

Assault with firearm: 9:20 p.m., 1500 block of 21st Street Southeast. A man shot a handgun where he shouldn’t have and lodged a bullet in a 7-Eleven.
