Auburn police responded to the following calls for service, among many others, between July 14 and July 20:
July 14
Burglary: Overnight, 1215 West Valley Highway N. Somebody, or several somebodies, pilfered food and drink from a storage unit belonging to a coffee stand. The burglar, or burglars, got in by cutting a metal clasp attached to the storage unit with a padlock.
Shoplifting: 11:22 p.m., 1406 Lake Tapps Parkway SE. Police arrested two men for shoplifting beer from the Top Foods in Lakeland Hills. Police also cited the getaway driver for driving on a suspended license.
Theft: 7 a.m., 1300 block of 8th Street Northeast. A thief damaged a vehicle window and stole a GPS unit. Police did not disclose a value for the damage or the theft.
July 15
Trespassing: 12:53 a.m., 1100 block of 12th Street Northeast. Police arrested a man for criminal trespassing after he refused to remove his unwanted self from some annoyed person’s front porch.
Commercial burglary: 2:52 a.m., 1345 22nd St. NE. A suspicious vehicle call at Childhaven, a refuge for young children, turned out to be a burglary involving gasoline stolen from two different Childhaven vans.
July 18
Theft: 11:01 a.m., 400 block of H Street Northwest. A man told police that somebody snuck into his unlocked car, stole his keys and his Craftsman’s tool set and vandalized the dashboard. Police did not disclose a value for the missing items or the damage.
Assault with aggravating injury: 1:25 p.m., 3600 block of Auburn Way S. A man tried to strangle his girlfriend in their apartment. Police arrested him for 2nd-degree assault and booked him into the Auburn jail. Doctors at Auburn Regional Medical treated the woman for minor injuries.
Theft: 12:49 p.m., 2830 I St. NE. A patient at North Auburn Rehab reported that somebody stole her Nintendo game console.
July 19
Burglary: 8:30 a.m., 2316 Auburn Way N. Persons unknown broke into a storage shed belonging to an auto sales business and stole undisclosed items.
Controlled substance: 9 a.m., 12400 block of Southeast 320th Street. Police arrested somebody for dealing pot after the person showed his or her stash to an employee of an undisclosed educational facility.
Burglary: 2:09 p.m., 1101 Supermall Way SW. Police arrested a girl at the SuperMall after she ran from police. Said girl later admitted going to the SuperMall with burglary tools – a lined shopping bag – to commit thefts with two other friends.
Fraud: 5:05 p.m., 3600 block of I Street Northeast. An elderly woman called to report someone was trying to get her to write a $300 check so she could get $850,000 in return.
July 20
Hitching a ride: 7 p.m.,500 block of H Street Northwest. Police contacted someone who had ridden illegally on the Union Pacific Railroad and arrested that person for trespassing.
Shoplifting: 6:30 p.m., 1425 Supermall Way SW. Police arrested a female for shoplifting perfume from Walmart. She said she intended to trade the perfume for drugs.
