A woman was found stabbed to death in her mother’s apartment Tuesday morning, Auburn police reported.

The victim was discovered by the woman’s boyfriend around 8:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of 22nd Avenue Northeast, said Auburn Police Cmdr. Steve Stocker.

The woman, 33, was dead at the scene, police reported. Authorities have not identified her.

Police later arrested a man who was seen running from the apartment, jumping a fence and running east. Patrol officers spotted a male subject not too far from the scene who matched the description of the suspect and arrested him around 10:10 a.m. at the Top Food & Drug on Auburn Way North.

A description of the suspect and further information led police to believe the suspect is a prior acquaintance or possible boyfriend of the victim.
