Auburn Police are investigating the death of a 3-year-old girl who was found dead in her home Tuesday. Police arrested and booked the 21-year-old mother for investigation of homicide.
Auburn patrol officers were dispatched at about 9:47 p.m. to a report of CPR in progress in the 400 block of 23rd Street Southeast.
The initial call indicated that a mother was performing CPR on her child. Arriving officers found the girl dead.
An initial investigation revealed significant bruising on the child’s body.
Detectives determined there was probable cause to arrest the mother.
The investigation is ongoing, including an autopsy this morning.
A 2-month-old baby girl was taken into protective custody by officers. This baby is also a child of the arrested mother. The baby was taken to the hospital for precautionary evaluation and released to custody of Child Protective Services as the investigation continues.
