Auburn Riverside girls water polo punches ticket to state

The Auburn Riverside girls water polo team played their way into the state tournament with a 3-1 performance at the Wildcard Tournament, conducted this past weekend at Lakes High School. The Ravens kicked off the tourney with a 10-7 overtime win over Peninsula on Friday, setting up three games on Saturday.

In the second-round Auburn Riverside defeated Bellevue 9-6, before stumbling against Puyallup with a 6-2 loss.

In a loser-out game on Sasturday night the Ravens earned their trip to state with a 6-5 win over Emerald Ridge.

Karlee Rogers led the way in the tourney with a five goal, six assist performance in four games. Teammate Kari Swanson had eight goals and one assist and Charissa Dorn chipped in with six goals and two assists.

Kamlyn Swanson had four goals and three assists and Lauren Esparza chimed in with six assists.

Sara Lee had two goals, Alyssa Esparza contributed a goal and an assist and Rachel Davey had one assist.

Auburn Riverside begins play in the Washington State Girls Water Polo Championship Tournament at Lakes High School Wednesday, with a 4:10 p.m. game against Mercer Island and a 6:30 p.m. game against Lakes at 6:30.
