Members of the Auburn Riverside High School Jazz Band will perform at the Valley Regional Fire Authority’s fire station dedication and open house next Saturday December 12, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

The public is invited for a day of family fun at VRFA Station 33, located at 500 182nd Ave., Auburn.

The jazz band members will play festive holiday music while visitors enjoy refreshments, door prizes, equipment and safety displays and firefighter action demonstrations. Kids are invited to try on child-size firefighter gear, make their own foam fire trucks, tour through the fire engine and aid car, meet Sparky the Fire Dog and “Pluggie” the fire hydrant robot. Adults can look for hot spots in a dark room with a thermal imaging camera, tour the facility and obtain home and holiday safety information.

A dedication ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. including the VRFA’s Honor Guard and a Bagpiper from Seattle Pipe and Drum.

In addition, a collection barrel will be available for anyone wishing to donate to the VRFA Firefighters annual Toys for Kids drive.

Voters approved the funding for the construction of fire station 33 as part of a capital funding projects measure passed in February of 2008.

The addition of this facility will bring the number of fire stations in the VRFA service area to five including North Auburn Station 31 at 1101 D St. NE, South Auburn Station 32 at 1951 R St. SE, Lea Hill Station 34 at 31204 124th Ave. and Pacific Station 38 at 133 3rd Ave. SE.
