The Auburn Valley Humane Society presented an open house Saturday, part of a statewide paw-ty.

The public got a chance to tour the facility, see adoptable animals, participate in hourly drawings and take home prizes.

The AVHS, at 4910 A St. SE, was one of several shelters throughout the state that hosted an open house.

The Pawsitive Alliance, www.pawsitivealliance.org, is working with animal shelters throughout the state to promote their adoptable pets and meet prospective families. The goal is to help the shelters grow their adopter, donor and volunteer bases while raising awareness of the good work they do on a daily basis for animals in need.
