Starting Monday, July 23, the contractor of the M Street Southeast Underpass project will close the following streets to through traffic for approximately four weeks, weather dependent:

• 4th Street SE from L Street Southeast to M Street Southeast.

• 6th Street SE from L Street Southeast to M Street Southeast.

These streets are being closed to through traffic so the contractor may begin excavating and re-grading these streets to accommodate the lowering of their intersections with the M Street Southeast underpass being constructed.

Signed detour routes are posted. Pedestrian access to residences will be maintained. However, access under Highway 18 is unavailable during the M Street closure. Businesses also will remain open during construction activities.
