The artwork of talented members of the Auburn Valley Creative Arts (AVCA) organization will be on display at the City Hall Gallery through March 28, as well as at a temporary gallery at 113 Main St.

“There is incredible artistic talent in Auburn, and it is wonderful to see it on display in multiple locations for the public to experience,” said Arts Commissioner Debby Deal.

In the City Hall Gallery, 12 artists showcase 33 works of art showcasing photography, watercolor, mosaic and pastel. The talented AVCA members include Mary Ellen Bowers, Penelope Evans, Connie Reinicke, Amy Sie, J.M. King, Dan Norman, Joan Nicholson, Roy Dilley, Judy Ann Matthews, Lela Brugger, Marie Lyndemere and Susan Bischof Storey. The opening reception is 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday.

As part of the Storefronts Auburn initiative, AVCA members have a temporary gallery storefront in which artwork is on display, workshops and demonstrations are offered, and artist gatherings are frequent.

Storefronts Auburn is a neighborhood activation program, supporting the health and vitality of Auburn’s historic downtown through temporary pairings of artists and creative businesses with vacant storefronts spaces.

“AVCA is a two-year old organization and we are so happy to have such support from the City and interest from local artists,” said AVCA co-chair Marie Lyndemere. “Art is the soul of any community and we are glad to be part of it.”

An open house at the 113 Main St., Auburn Valley Creative Arts Storefront Gallery is 5-8 p.m., March 13.

The Auburn City Hall Gallery is presented by the City of Auburn and Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation.
