The Auburn Valley Kiwanis Club held its 26th annual fundraising tournament last Friday at Auburn Golf Course.
The benefit featured a golf ball drop. A helicopter deposited an estimated 650 pledged balls onto a temporary pin positioned in the middle of the par-4 No. 6 fairway. No ball bounced into the hole, but the closest ball to the pin belonged to Shirley Smith, who won $500 for her $5 purchase of entry No. 478.
Proceeds from the Kiwanis’ “Helping Kids Out of the Rough” event supports the club’s many family and children’s community service programs offered through supporting organizations.
The tournament attracted 17 teams.
