Auburn VFW Post 1741 recently honored two students for their work in essay competitions.

Victoria Bains, a sixth-grader at Holy Family Catholic School won the VFW Post 1741 and District 11 competitions for her Patriot’s Pen essay on the theme, “Does patriotism still matter?” Bains’ essay was awarded third place in the VFW state competition.

Auburn High School’s Alexis Karnofski received VFW Post 1741 recognition for her local Post-winning Voice of Democracy essay on the theme, “Does my generation have a role in America’s future?”
