Historic downtown brings Northwest artists together for the Auburn’s Art Walk and Wine Tasting event on Friday, Sept. 9, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Artists will display and sell their original handmade-quality paintings, mosaics and wearable art work in downtown businesses. The evening also features live music and fine wines.

The Auburn Art Walk Board again will share works from the Art Spirit program at the Washington Correctional Center (WCC) in Shelton.

“Some of the offenders actually approached prison staff to see if they could submit their art for public viewing,” said WCC Chaplain Greg Garringer. “Being able to share their art with the community has helped them on the path to reintegration.”

Acoustic and electric guitarist Paul Johnson, a music teacher in the Kent School District, will perform original and cover tunes at Green River Cyclery, 8 S. Division St. The Davidson Brothers bring blues, jazz and rock to the B Street Plaza. New Age Flamenco, whose music reflects a strong Latin connection, Mediterranean folk, European roots, jazz and a Gypsy soul blended with infectious rhythms of modern music, will play at the City Hall Courtyard, 25 W. Main St.

For those taking in art and wine, visit Green River Cyclery and Busted Bike Cafe, 8 S. Division St., to experience the featured winery, Eleven. The winery produces a wide range of wines, something for every palate.

Seven wine tasting venues at local businesses will offer a variety of tastes. Enjoy local wines from Washington and Oregon, as well as wines from Chile and South Africa.

The event is free but wine tasting tickets are $12 pre-sale, $15 at the event and include six 1-ounce tastes and a custom wine glass. Pre-sale tickets are available online at www.auburnartwalk.com or at Green River Cyclery, and Grocery Outlet, 102 Cross St. SE, in downtown Auburn.

A walking map, wine tasting tickets, custom wine glass and ID check will be available at the information booths at the former Rottles store, 222 E. Main St., and Plaza Park, corner of Division and Main Streets.
