Battery-powered quad ignites while charging | Fire blotter

From the Valley Regional Fire Authority.

Between Aug. 11 and Aug. 17, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to the following calls for service, among many others.

Aug. 11

Aid call: (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medic One paramedics responded to a man in respiratory distress. Firefighters helped paramedics to secure the man’s airway and move him safely. The man received additional treatment from paramedics, and they transported him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further care.

Aug. 12

Aid call: 4:13 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters assessed an elderly man who had injured himself on a slip-and-slide and suffered a concussion, then transported him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further treatment.

Aug. 13

Minor fire: 1:22 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a battery-powered quad that was charging when it caught fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found that the homeowner had already extinguished the fire with an extinguisher.

Aug. 14

Brush fire: 8:18 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a brush fire in a wooded area near the White River found a 15’x15’ fire and quickly deployed a hoseline to extinguish it. After suppressing the flames, firefighters remained on scene to dig out hot spots and ensure the fire was fully extinguished.

Aug. 15

Aid call: 11:52 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated and treated a 5-year-old boy who had fallen from monkey bars. A private ambulance transported the injured youngster to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center.

Aug. 16

Multiple unconscious subjects: 7:40 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medic One responded to reports of a possible unconscious person, and upon arrival at the scene, firefighters discovered two unconscious men, whom they suspected to be affected by substance use. Firefighters and treated the patients on scene before they were transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further care.

Aug. 17

Collision: 4 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a two-vehicle collision with minor injuries. Upon arrival, firefighters found one person complaining of head pain, so after they treated him, a private ambulance transported him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further care.
