Boy Scouts serve up international night to the community

Auburn-area troops recently celebrated February – Boy Scouts of America Birthday Month – with a Blue and Gold Family Style Dinner at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Auburn-area troops recently celebrated February – Boy Scouts of America Birthday Month – with a Blue and Gold Family Style Dinner at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Boy Scout Troops 331, 340, 341 and 344 presented the dinner night themed Countries Around the World. Boy Scouts decorated the hall with world maps and flags from different countries and made center pieces.

Families were asked to bring a meal representing their ancestry or a country that they visited. Many countries were represented at the food table.

The event included games from other countries, music, a slide show.

Guest speaker Christian Kressel, who grew up in Germany, spoke about what life was like there and what it was like to come to this country.

Ryan Shuler, a Webelos den Leader for more than three years, and Ron Larson, a Bear den Leader for more than six years, were honored. Larson received a special award, the Cub Scout Leader Knot.

Thirty-two Cub Scouts received their Language & Cultural belt loops. This entailed learning several foreign words and playing several games from different countries with their family.

An estimated 105 people attended.
