Jim Burton, retired Auburn High School marketing instructor and DECA advisor, recently was inducted into the Washington DECA Hall of Fame at the annual statewide DECA leadership conference.
Burton served in the school district for 22 years and in public education for 30 years, dedicating himself to providing students hands-on experiences in the fields of marketing, business and entrepreneurship, both in the classroom and through DECA conferences and competitions.
In addition to his time in the classroom, he served as area leader on the Washington DECA Management Team and on the board of directors. Burton was honored as a Washington DECA Advisor of the Year earlier in his career. He retired in June 2007.
ALSO: Patrick Wilson, admission counselor from Linfield College, will visit Auburn-area high schools on Friday. He will meet with students and parents to discuss admission requirements, course offerings and financial aid offered through the college. Wilson will be available at Auburn Mountainview (8 a.m.); Auburn (9 a.m.) and Auburn Riverside (10 a.m.).
