The following is a sample of calls received by the Valley Regional Fire Authority.
June 2
Vehicle collision: 8:47 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a two-vehicle collision with airbags deployed. Two people with minor injuries were evaluated and treated on scene. Neither required transport.
June 3
Non-structure fire: 11:53 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to reports of a fence on fire. The reporting party had extinguished the fire with a garden hose and extinguisher. Crews ensured the fire was fully out. The cause was accidental.
June 4
Obvious death: 11:30 a.m. (Lea Hill). Firefighters responded to the passing of a 102-year-old woman. Firefighters confirmed the death and assisted Auburn Police and family members with scene support and a chaplain contact.
June 5
Aid call: 8:47 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a man complaining about a dislocated hip and shoulder pain following a fall in his home. Firefighters assessed and treated the man on scene. A private ambulance transported him to a local hospital.
June 6
Vehicle fire: 2:50 p.m. (Lea Hill). Firefighters responded to a vehicle fire. The driver had pulled over and attempted to kill the fire with an extinguisher before firefighters arrived. Crews quickly extinguished the fire, which was confined to the engine compartment. The driver was not injured.
June 7
Car vs. bicycle: 1:11 p.m. (Algona). Firefighters responded to a car vs. bicyclist accident. Crews arrived to find a teenage bicyclist sitting on the curb with minor injuries. The patient was evaluated and released to a parent on scene.
June 8
Trash bin fire: 2:39 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a trash bin fire near a business. They arrived to find a small fire contained within the trash bin with no nearby exposure. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and ensured the scene was safe.
