Cause of three-alarm fire in Auburn is undetermined

The cause for the three-alarm fire that occurred near the Auburn Adventist Academy on May 7 is undetermined, the Valley Regional Fire Authority said Thursday.

The cause for the three-alarm fire that occurred near the Auburn Adventist Academy on May 7 is undetermined, the Valley Regional Fire Authority said Thursday.

The blaze damaged or destroyed seven businesses within two adjoining commercial buildings at 2810 Academy Drive SE. The affected businesses include several auto and truck repair garages, as well as a woodworking shop.

Dollar loss is estimated at $790,000.

Three ladder trucks, 10 fire engines and several command and medical units from the VRFA, South King Fire & Rescue, Kent Fire Department RFA, King County Medic One, and Mountain View Fire & Rescue responded to the fire, which was reported by a passerby at 8:25 p.m.

There were no injuries to civilians or fire department personnel.
