Tim’s Shoe, a national campaign to raise awareness about Multiple System Atrophy, recently made its stop in Auburn where it was displayed on a sculpture in front of City Hall.

What began in March as a simple prank among friends in Georgia has turned into a crusade to raise awareness for the disease and a national tour for Tim’s Shoe.

“My husband (Rick) passed away from MSA on May 5, 2009, so I was very happy to have the opportunity to host Tim’s Shoe,” said Auburn’s Pat Chubb. “The disease MSA doesn’t have a celebrity spokesperson or an official ribbon or badge or a 10K

or walkathon – but we do have Tim’s Shoe.”

MSA is a rare neurological disorder that manifests itself in ways similar to Parkinson’s disease. MSA is a relentless, fatal disease that affects the person’s ability to speak, breathe, swallow, digest food, use their arms or legs, and causes severe sleep disorders, depression and muscle aches.
