For the Reporter

The City of Auburn is accepting applications for two openings on its Parks and Recreation Board.

The board is comprised of seven members who are appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the City Council. The committee makes recommendations to the mayor and council on planning, development, acquisition and management of City parks, recreation facilities and programs.

Members are charged with providing input related to the parks and recreation needs of the city. Members provide input related to grants and other outside funding that may be available to enhance Auburn programs and spaces. The board is also responsible for establishing, subject to the approval of the mayor and council, necessary policies, goals, rules and regulations to conduct the activities of the Parks and Recreation Board.

Board members are appointed for three-year terms, and regular meetings are on the first Tuesday of each month (following a Monday council meeting) at 5:30 p.m. at the Auburn Senior Activity Center, 808 Ninth St. SE.
