City to hold Pitch, Hit & Run competition

Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation is gearing up to host the annual Pitch, Hit & Run baseball skills competition on May 3 at Game Farm Park beginning at 10 a.m.

Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation is gearing up to host the annual Pitch, Hit & Run baseball skills competition on May 3 at Game Farm Park beginning at 10 a.m.

Pitch, Hit & Run is a nationwide competition and an official event of Major League Baseball and Aquafina.

The free competition, for boys and girls ages 7-14 (child must be 14 or under as of July 14, 2008), gives participants a chance to showcase their pitching, hitting and running abilities.

Winners can advance through four levels of competition, including team championship events at the 30 Major League ballparks and the national finals at the MLB All-Star Game.

Children will be judged on accuracy, distance and speed in pitching, hitting and running. Pre-registration for the event is not necessary.
