Collection update in the Auburn area

Waste Management postponed residential curbside collection Tuesday in King County, north of Auburn and Federal Way, including Maple Valley.

Collection is proceeding as access allows in South King County, including Auburn, Federal Way, Algona and Pacific.

Contrary to an earlier report, South King County customers who are missed should not leave containers out. They should remove them from the street and set out twice as much material on their next scheduled collection day for each container.

Residential curbside customers whose collection is missed may set out twice their regular amount of garbage, recycling and/or yard waste at no additional charge on the next regularly scheduled collection day for each container. If a resident’s regularly scheduled collection falls on or in the week after a holiday, Waste Management will collect one day late in most areas. For example, during this Christmas holiday week, most Thursday customers will be serviced on Friday and Friday customers will be serviced on Saturday.

Residents and businesses should check www.wmnorthwest.com for specific collection schedules in their areas. Waste Management will also attempt to notify customers by phone when service is delayed.

Commercial customers will be serviced as soon as conditions allow safe collection. Priority service is given to locations such as hospitals and restaurants, where public health is a concern.
