Auburn’s Brannan Park has a new playground.
More than 200 volunteers from Delta Air Lines, the City of Auburn, the Auburn Food Bank, organizers from KaBOOM! and community residents pulled up their sleeves and went to work on Saturday.
The result was an efficient, one-day build – a new playground at the park, 611 28th St. NE.
The new playground’s look is based on drawings created by children who participated in a design day event in August.
The new playground will provide hundreds of children in the community with a safe place to play. The existing playground at Brannan Park is more than 30 years old and was in need of replacement.
The playground – the first built by KaBOOM! and Delta Air Lines – is one of more than 150 playground builds KaBOOM! will lead throughout the country this year in an effort to fulfill its vision of a great place to play within walking distance of every child in America.
Earlier this year, organizers and volunteers built a new playground at Kent’s Turnkey Park.
Saturday’s program kicked off with a ceremony and volunteer deployment at 8:30 a.m. It ended with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to dedicate the new play area.
