U.S. Representative Dave Reichert will open an office in downtown Auburn early next year.

The City Council on Monday agreed to lease space to the 8th District Republican Congressman in an office next to the Auburn Area Chamber of Commerce in the City-owned Gambini block on South Division Street.

“Washington D.C. comes to Auburn,” said Councilman John Partridge. “There’s a desk sitting by the chamber. For $75 a month, we’re going to have Congressman Dave Reichert at our fingertips.”

The office opens in mid-January, said Natasha Mayer, Reichert’s communications director.

“Auburn is the largest city in the 8th, so opening an office there provides better access and gives constituents yet another option for contacting our office. It’s really there to improve and expand outreach,” Mayer said.
