‘Deadliest Catch’ sea captain to appear at HCC

Mike Fourtner – one of the stars of the TV series “Deadliest Catch” – will appear at Highline Community College on Saturday to talk about his dangerous profession.

He will speak at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the college’s Marine Science & Technology (MaST) Center, 28203 Redondo Beach Drive S, Des Moines. It is free to the public.

Fourtner, part-time captain and engineer of the Time Bandit on The Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch,” will discuss what it is like and what it takes to be an Alaskan crab fisherman.

“People always ask me what a typical day consists of and I will definitely dismiss this myth and make it known that on a crab boat, there is no such thing as a typical day,” Fourtner said.

Highline’s MaST Center is located midway between Seattle and Tacoma at Redondo Beach in Des Moines.
