Detectives search area near Duvall for remains of a victim possibly tied to Green River Killer

King County Sheriff’s detectives said the information about this specific location is not new, but a thorough search of the area had not been done before.

King County Sheriff’s detectives searched a wooded area near Duvall on Thursday looking for remains of a possible victim of the Green River Killer.

Detectives said the information about this specific location is not new, but a thorough search of the area had not been done before. Detectives, along with cadaver dogs, searched the area near NE 140th Street and 286 Ave. NE, but nothing was found.

Detectives said the area was one of many locations that convicted killer Gary Ridgway provided to police during the investigation after his arrest. Detectives said when time allows they continue to look at information learned from Ridgway and conduct searches in areas that have not been searched before.

Detectives had no specific information about which victim may have been in area searched Thursday.

In 2003, Ridgway was convicted of killing 49 women but said he likely committed over 71 murders. Many of the women’s bodies have not been found.
