For the Reporter
Throughout Main Street, sculptures have enlivened, delighted and surprised downtown visitors.
The public has an opportunity to meet the artists and discuss their works during a Downtown Sculpture Gallery Walking Tour, beginning at 7 p.m. April 24 at the Auburn Avenue Theater, 10 Auburn Ave.
The program includes an opening dedication and reception, a short film that showcases aspects of the installation, artist interviews and a walk.
The walking tour begins at the western most sculpture, Francisco Salgado’s Jump, at B Street Southwest and West Main Street, and continues east along Main Street, culminating at the corner of East Main Street and D Street Southeast.
Artists with artwork on display will include Lin Rebolini McJunkin, Kris Vermeer, Kenneth Hall, Dan Klennert, Jennifer Ellsworth, Patricia Vader and Jennifer Ellsworth.
Lin Rebolini McJunkin’s Riparian Totem – the 2013 People’s Choice purchase award winner – will be dedicated and added to the City’s permanent collection.
The tour is free.
