Dunn works as page for Sen. Roach

Lyssa Dunn, a freshman at Sumner High School, took a week off from school to participate in the Senate Page Program during the first week of the 2010 legislative session.

She was sponsored by Sen. Pam Roach (R-rural Auburn).

“I came here because I wanted to know how bills got passed.” Dunn said.

“It’s great to see students take advantage of this unique opportunity to learn about state government,” Roach said. “I’m happy Lyssa had the opportunity.”

Through the Senate Page Program, Dunn learned about the legislative process at the page school and watched legislators at work. She assisted by running errands and delivering mail to relieve office staff as needed. Around 20 pages per week participate in the program during legislative session.

Never interested in politics before, now Dunn thinks she wants to work here. “I would like to major in politics now,” she said.

Dunn also loves to read, write, and play video games. She is the daughter of Shawn Dunn and Merrianne McKay of Sumner.
