A fatal shooting occurred June 26 on State Route 167 near Auburn, leaving one dead.
At about 7:30 p.m. June 26, state troopers were on the scene of a drive-by shooting that occurred about five minutes before on northbound SR 167, just north of Ellingson Road in Algona near Auburn. At the scene, a silver Prius was found containing one deceased man, according to Washington State Patrol (WSP) spokesperson Trooper Rick Johnson.
When the first responding officer arrived, the man was already deceased. According to Johnson, the man had no identification on his person, however, the King County Medical Examiner’s Office (KCMEO) identified him on June 27.
According to the KCMEO, the deceased’s name is 22-year-old Breiner Andres Castro Jaramillo. The KCMEO lists his cause of death as multiple gunshot wounds, his manner of death as homicide and the location was listed as in a vehicle at SR 167 at milepost 12.
Johnson stated that the only information they really have at this point is that the suspects might have been in a silver Scion or Subaru-type vehicle, and a red SUV with an unknown make or model. Johnson said apart from that, there is not much information about what happened, so they really need the public’s help to report anything they saw.
“So whether you were in that area, north or southbound, have dashcam, anything, we’ll take it, and they can call the State Patrol, and they’ll know what incident they’re talking about,” Johnson said. “We can’t say if it’s targeted, random, road rage related. We don’t have any information like that.”
Johnson said detectives are canvassing the area and are on the case full-time. The Washington Department of Transportation has cameras on highways, but they’re not recorded. Johnson added that he believes there is not statewide capability to record all video from the cameras.
More information will be reported as it becomes available. Anyone with information regarding the shooting can call 911.
