JULY 12

Brush Fire: 3:53 p.m., (Auburn). VRFA units responded to a report of a brush fire near east-bound Highway 18, east of the Auburn-Black Diamond Road. On location, crews found a grass fire moving into the trees along the highway. Engine 32 was able to contain the fire and extinguish it with water onboard.

JULY 11

Worker struck by loose dual tires: 2:06 p.m., (Auburn). VRFA units arrived to find that a yard worker had been struck by a pair of trailer tires broken loose from a passing tractor-trailer combination. The worker was treated at the scene and transported to Auburn Regional Medical Center (ARMC) by American Medical Response (AMR). Auburn Police are investigating.

JULY 10

Service call: 12:40 p.m., (Auburn). Engine 31 responded to a report of flooding in an apartment. On location, Engine 31 found that workers hired by the resident to install a new washing machine had accidentally sheared off the water supply pipe, causing rapid flooding of the apartment. Engine 31 shut down the flooding water supply to the unit and helped the resident protect her valuable antiques from damage.

JULY 9

Apartment fire: 8:06 p.m., (Auburn) The VRFA was dispatched to an apartment fire at 134 E. Main St. First-arriving fire units found the second-floor apartment with moderate smoke conditions and a small fire in the corner of the unit. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and check for extension into the walls and overhead. The fire was contained to the unit of origin. After removal of smoke by the fire department, all occupants were allowed to return to their units. The South King Fire Investigation Task Force determined that the cause was electrical wiring and the estimated damage cost was $25,000.

JULY 7

Aid call: 6:41 p.m., (Pacific). Engine 38 responded to help the Pacific Police Department with an assault victim. Upon arrival, the engine crew found a 43-year-old man with multiple abrasions and contusions. The man said that his girlfriend and he had fought, and that she had hit him several times with a shovel. None of the injuries were serious.
