Fire & rescue blotter | Oct. 2

The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 172 calls for service between Sept. 21 and Sept. 27, among them the following:

Sept. 21

Aid call: 6:24 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters and paramedics treated a boy who had hit his head on the pavement in a bike accident. The boy was not wearing a helmet. King County Medic One paramedics took him to Haborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Sept. 22

Patient assist: 4:36 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters crawled through an open window to get into a home to help someone who had fallen. After helping the patient off the floor, firefighters performed an examination but found no injuries and left the person at home.

Sept. 23

Aid call: 11:20 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters treated a disoriented, dizzy senior citizen and discovered that his blood pressure was low. American Medical Response (AMR) transported the man to Auburn Regional Medical Center (ARMC) for follow-up treatment.

Sept. 24

Motor vehicle accident: 7:19 a.m., (Pacific). Rsponding to an injury accident on Highway 167, firefighters found a man complaining of neck pain. Firefighters immobilized him with a cervical collar, placed him on a backboard and Aid 31 transported him to ARMC.

Sept. 25

Aid call: 11:32 a.m., (Auburn). Aid 32 responded to a lethargic elderly woman with terminal cancer. Firefighters assessed the woman and provided comfort and help. AMR personnel took the woman to AMRC at the request of the family.

Sept. 26

Aid call: 5:12 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters and Medic personnel treated a man for shortness of breath and Medic 6 transported him to ARMC.

Sept. 27

Smoke investigation: 7:05 p.m., (Auburn). Valley Com dispatched multiple fire units to reports of a possible house fire in the 600 block of L Place Southeast. Firefighters found that the home’s resident had been burning wet wood in an outdoor fireplace. Firefighters reminded the homeowner of burning regulations.
