DEC. 8

Industrial Accident: 2:42 p.m., (Auburn). VRFA firefighters responded to the 1200 block of 37th Street Northwest to help an injured man. Apparently, a 1,000-pound conveyor belt that workers had been pushing across a loading dock had hit the man in the legs. Firefighters stabilized the man and AID 31 transported him to Auburn Regional Medical Center.

DEC. 9

Light headedness: 2 p.m.,

(Auburn). VRFA firefighters responded to a man who had almost fainted while he was walking down the road. The man was recovering from surgery a couple of weeks earlier. VRFA crews evaluated the man’s condition and arranged for his transport to Auburn Regional Medical Center via ambulance. The man wondered about the groceries he had bought and had been carrying. Firefighters gathered the groceries, brought them back to Station 32 and placed them in the refrigerator until the man got out of the hospital. About 7 p.m., the man returned to pick up the food and thanked firefighters for helping him.

Chest pain: 9:30 p.m., (Auburn). VRFA firefighters and King County Medic 6 responded to the Auburn Police Department for a report of a man with chest pain and found there a conscious, 58-year-old man complaining of chest discomfort. Moments later the patient went into full cardiac arrest. Medics and EMT’s immediately started CPR and converted the man into a normal sinus rhythm with one shock from the defibrillator. Personnel stabilized the man and transported him to Auburn Regional Medical Center for further treatment.

DEC. 10

Motor vehicle accident:

(Auburn). VRFA personnel responded to a one-car collision involving an electrical distribution system pole. The lone occupant suffered minor facial injuries but refused further treatment and was left at the scene in the care of Auburn Police.

Dumpster fire: (Auburn). VRFA firefighters responded to a report of a Dumpster fire in the Ace Hardware parking lot on West Main Street. Engine 31 located the Dumpster and observed heavy flames and smoke belching from it. VRFA personnel quickly squelched the flames. Fire personnel are still investigating the cause.

DEC. 11

Rollover accident: 9:51 p.m., (Auburn) VRFA personnel responded to a car accident in the 2900 block of A Street Southeast VRFA and found a vehicle that had rolled over onto its side. The vehicle sustained heavy damage, with both airbags deployed. The lone occupant had climbed out of the vehicle and was not hurt. Auburn police were investigating the cause of the accident.

DEC. 12

Residential fire: 9:41 a.m., (Lake Tapps area). Engine 38 responded on mutual aid with East Pierce Fire and Rescue to help with a report of a residential fire. Engine 38 reported to the Command Post and was told to begin a search of the structure and confirmed nobody was inside. Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire.

DEC. 15

Natural gas leak: 6:15 a.m.,

(Algona). Firefighters responded to a natural gas leak inside a business in the 500 block of 10th Avenue North and found workers ventilating the structure. Firefighters used air monitoring tools to determine the building was safe for workers. Maintenance workers coordinated repairs.
