Firefighters from the Valley Regional Fire Authority were dispatched to a report of a residential fire in the 600 block of 24th Street Southeast in Auburn on Wednesday afternoon.
A neighbor called 911 after seeing smoke and flames coming from the back of the home at 1:34 p.m. Arriving fire crews found fire on a deck that had spread to the house and attic. A crew entered the structure and completed a search for occupants.
Two dogs were found in the home. One dog died on scene and the other is being treated by firefighters.
Firefighters remain on scene and no injuries have been reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
