Group to dedicate site for Vietnam War memorial on Saturday

The City of Auburn/American-Vietnamese War Memorial Alliance is dedicating a site for its proposed Vietnam War Memorial on Saturday, July 30, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Les Gove Park, 910 9th St. SE.

The City of Auburn/American-Vietnamese War Memorial Alliance is dedicating a site for its proposed Vietnam War memorial on Saturday, July 30, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Les Gove Park, 910 9th St. SE.

The dedication ceremony, which begins at 11 a.m., recognizes the future site of the memorial in the park. Entertainment and a picnic will follow.

There will be special guests, including Mayor Nancy Backus and Alfie Alvarado-Ramos, director of the Washington Department of Veterans’ Affairs, display booths and a presentation of pins to Vietnam veterans.

It is free and open to all. Please bring a lunch.
