It’s Bowman Creek Elementary; Auburn School Board names new school

The Auburn School District’s 15th elementary has a name – Bowman Creek Elementary.

The district’s board of directors selected the name at Monday night’s board meeting. The decision was a culmination of a naming process that began in November when the board asked the community to make suggestions for the name of Auburn’s newest elementary.

A total of 275 students, staff, parents and community members submitted 168 different name suggestions. A committee of 18 narrowed the list to the final four.

The final four names were:

• Bowman Creek Elementary

• Forest Ridge Elementary

• Harriet Tubman Elementary

• Kersey Heights Elementary

Bowman Creek flows from Bowman Lake and empties into the White River at the bottom of Kersey Way Southeast. Bowman Creek Elementary opens in the fall of 2020 at 5701 Kersey Way SE.
