For the Reporter
Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation offers an opportunity to delve into adventure.
Come explore local parks during Auburn’s own GeoCaching course on Saturday, June 21 from 1 to 3 p.m.
The GeoCaching 101 course is an informative and fun way for family and friends of all ages to learn the basics of a real-world treasure hunt. Geocaching is an outdoor treasure hunting game where participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates using GPS-enabled devices to find hidden objects.
Auburn was chosen as a recipient for the Washington State Geocaching Association Small Grant Program, which provided $250 to support Auburn’s efforts to start a geocaching program.
Participants will start at the Parks, Arts & Recreation Administration building with a 60-minute lesson that covers the basics of geocaching. After the lesson participants are tasked with one hour to traverse local parks searching for “geocache” or hidden containers.
The cost to participate is $10 per individual or $15 for couples or families for Auburn residents and $13/$19 for non-residents.
