K9 unit persuades burglary suspect to surrender | Auburn police blotter

Auburn Police responded to the following calls for service, among many others, between Nov. 22 and Nov. 27:

Nov. 22

Highly suspicious: 6;47 a.m., 1929 West Valley Highway S. An abandoned vehicle caught fire.

Cutting z’s at the Y: 12:30 p.m., 1620 Perimeter Road Southwest. Somebody found six people snoozing in YMCA vehicles.

Theft from motor vehicle: 3:10 p.m., 1101 Outlet Collection Way SW. The loss prevention manager at Burlington Coat Factory flagged down a police offer to complain that someone had broken into his vehicle in the parking lot and vandalized it.

Nov. 23

Misdemeanor vandalism: 5:45 a.m., 400 block of 17th Street Southeast. Under cover of darkness, someone damaged one of a vehicle’s windows.

Found property: 8:31 a.m., 340 E. Main St. An officer found a black backpack in the lobby of the police department and an ASUS brand laptop, but without an owner nearby, the officer stowed it away for safekeeping.

Felonious theft of vehicle parts: 4:47 p.m., 1600 block of Boundary Boulevard Southwest. Somebody ripped a catalytic converter from a vehicle and departed with it.

Nov. 24

Trespassing: 10:36 a.m., 1200 A St. NE. Two men got the boot from the Duck Pond and surrounding property.

Nov. 25

Cops helping cops: 12:36 a.m., 1800 block of 33rd Street, Federal Way. A burglar in the act of committing a residential burglary refused to come out until “K9 announcements” at the front door persuaded her to surrender.

Misdemeanor harassment: 10:26 a.m., 800 block of R Street Northwest. A woman reported that the father of her child had made threats to harm her during a recent argument.

Nov. 27

Theft: 5:30 p.m., 1101 Outlet Collection Way SW. A woman called 911 to report that someone had stolen her phone while she was shopping at the Outlet Collection Mall.
