The Board of Supervisors of the King County Flood Control District on Monday approved a Flood Reduction Fund Grant Project for the City of Pacific.

The funds approved are from a grant program created in 2013 and will focus on flood prevention.

Pacific received a $32,000 grant for reimbursement for the opening and closing of the City Park. The facility is used for potential flood mitigation and requires isolation in the form of HESCO barriers.

“It is important to provide cities with the necessary resources to implement flood prevention projects to protect their communities,” said Flood Control District Supervisor Pete von Reichbauer, whose district has been approved for two separate grants. “The funds provided by this program will assist communities in South King County to seek solutions to their flooding issues and pursue sustainable projects.”
