Landslide closes westbound lanes of SR 18 in Auburn

Department of transportation crews are assessing the stability.

All lanes of westbound state Route 18 are closed due to a landslide that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, Mar. 2, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The landslide took out a barrier on state Route 18 in between Highway 167 and Weyerhaeuser Way, according to the Valley Regional Fire Authority.

As of publication westbound state Route 18 is still closed between Peasley Canyon / state Route 167.

The Washington State Department of Transportation is still assessing the stability of the area the landslide took place. There is currently no estimation of when the lanes will re-open, Washington State Patrol Trooper Rick Johnson said.
