Man in stolen SUV shot and killed by pursuing driver in Auburn

Someone in a vehicle that was chasing an SUV on an on-ramp to westbound Highway 18 opened fire early Tuesday morning (Oct. 6) and killed its driver.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the SUV had been stolen from a 7-Eleven in Auburn about 15 minutes before the shooting,

The WSP said the incident unfolded shortly after midnight on the C Street Southwest on-ramp to westbound Highway 18 when someone inside the pursuing vehicle started shooting, and the SUV spun out in the wrong direction of the on-ramp.

According to WSP Trooper Rick Johnson, the SUV’s driver got out and died in the eastbound lanes of Highway 18.

The WSP closed both directions of the freeway near the on-ramp, and reopened them around 8 a.m.
