A man sustained minor injuries from a house fire in south Auburn on Wednesday night, the Valley Regional Fire Authority reported.
Two other occupants – a man and a woman – evacuated safely, but two cats perished in the fire, the VRFA said.
Neighbors called 911 at approximately 8:45 p.m. after seeing smoke and flames coming from an approximately 1,000-square-foot, two-story home in the 600 block of 8th Street Southeast. VRFA firefighters arrived to find the home evacuated, and fire showing from the front of the structure. Fire crews quickly knocked down the fire, but the home sustained extensive damage.
The residents and four of their cats will be staying with friends.
King County Medic One Paramedics treated the man for minor burns and transported him to a local hospital.
A VRFA fire investigator is working to determine the cause of the fire.
