Mid-morning fire destroys vacant home in Pacific

A mid-morning fire destroyed a small vacant home and damaged a travel trailer Wednesday morning in the 500 block of 3rd Avenue Southwest in the city of Pacific.

Nobody was hurt.

According to the Valley Regional Fire Authority, just before 7 a.m., several passersby reported seeing smoke and flames from a structure they originally believed to be a detached garage, but which the first firefighters on scene determined was a small vacant home.

The fire spread to nearby trees and a small travel trailer on the property, and while firefighters quickly contained the fire, the house could not be saved.

The American Red Cross is helping two adults.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
