The Miss Auburn Outstanding Teen Pageant (MAOT) – postponed last week due to inclement weather – has been rescheduled for Feb. 4.
Thirteen contestants will compete for the crown from 1-4 p.m. at the Auburn Performing Arts Center, 700 E. Main St. The MAOT Pageant proceeds the finals of the Miss Auburn Scholarship Pageant, which run from 7-10 p.m.
The MAOT is an extension of the Miss Auburn Scholarship Pageant, considered one of the largest and most successful programs in the country and affiliated with the Miss America Organization.
Naomi Moore, Auburn’s first-ever Outstanding Teen, and Nicole Renard, 2011 Miss Washington’s Outstanding Teen, are the scheduled hostesses and emcees, respectively, for the event. The program includes special performances by the University of Washington Dance Team, and Auburn Dance Academy’s Extreme Dance Team.
The MAOT program offers girls between the ages of 13 and 17 the chance to compete for the crown, title and scholarship dollars. Last year, the program awarded more than $3,000. The new title holder will have all fees and wardrobe paid to compete in Miss Washington’s Outstanding Teen Pageant in May.
This year’s contestants are: Allison Arthur, Lucky Backus, Hannah Berry, Olivia Elston, Tarhata Garrison, Katie Grant, Bobbi Hanson, Sydney Hedick, Kaitlyn Jensen, Jaclyn Leibrant, Georgia Riffle, Alyssa Schnell and Cami Werden.
Contestants in the pageant perform in several categories, including private interview, talent, physical fitness and evening wear.
Tickets are $20 and available online through www.brownpapertickets.com or by calling Kathy Lewis at 253-223-2736.
