March 16

Theft: 5:30 p.m., 920 15th St. SW. Somebody cut a display cell phone from its security cord and waltzed out of the T-Mobile store with it. Somebody saw the suspect but could not identify who he or she was.

March 17

Vandalism: 10:41 a.m., 330 block of Park Avenue Northeast. Suspects unknown painted graffiti on the south wall of a garage in an alley. The letters “SSC” and the number “13” also were painted thereon.

Sorry, officer: 5:48 p.m., 29832 Green River Road SE. An unoccupied vehicle hit an Auburn police vehicle in the parking lot of the Auburn Golf Course. The owner of said vehicle had apparently put the vehicle into gear or failed to set the parking brake.

Trespassing: 7 p.m., 1101 Supermall Way SW. Store security at Marshalls caught a young woman stealing something. After recovering the goods, the store declined to prosecute but store officials let the young thief know that her face would be unwelcome in that store for a year.

Theft from motor vehicle: Overnight, 6200 block of 35th Way Southeast. Somebody swiped a Roto-Hammer cordless drill from a van after punching two locks to get in. Police did not disclose a value for the drill.

March 18

ID theft: 11:59 p.m., 3800 block of D Place Southeast. An Oregon resident reported that thieves at an unknown Auburn home had used his and his wife’s Social Security numbers to obtain unauthorized phone and cable services in Auburn.

Controlled substance: 8:55 a.m., 4000 block of Auburn Way South. While conducting a warrant service in the area of Poplar Street Southeast and Auburn Way South, officers heard a gun shot. Upon arriving at the area where the gun shot originated, officers found hiding in the back yard a woman who had run from the house. As events unfolded, officers learned of the existence of a warrant with the woman’s name attached to it, so police arrested her. When officers searched the woman, they found two drug pipes, so they booked her into the Auburn Jail on her warrant and charged her with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Theft: 7:17 p.m., 1425 Supermall Way SW. Police arrested a girl for retail theft with extenuating circumstances when she used a knife and opened several video games to remove the security sensors. She walked out of the store, but store security caught up with her outside.

Vandalism: 6:55 p.m., 2802 Auburn Way N. An argument at the Sports Page between life-long friends reached its climax when one dude etched naughty words into his friend’s vehicle door and fled the scene.

Assault: 10:04 p.m., 1100 block of 63rd Street Southeast. For undisclosed reasons, a man’s friend punched him repeatedly in the face causing his jaw to break and separate. Police arrested the assailant later after he had called for aid for a throat injury he’d received in the fight.

March 21

Stealing from Scouts: 1:53 p.m., 4000 block of A Street Southeast. Some guy stole a money jar used by a group of Cub Scouts to gather donations for the Pacific Food Bank and got away with said jar. Police did not disclose a value.

Purse theft: 4:20 p.m., 9 16th St. NW. A woman reported that somebody stole her purse from a locker at the Travel Lodge.

Threatening: 2:10 p.m., 4200 block of Auburn Way South. An Auburn resident has reportedly been threatening his niece or nephew in Arizona.
