Outdoor burn ban canceled for Muckleshoot Reservation

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 10 on Friday cancelled the burn ban for the Muckleshoot Reservation.

The ban also was lifted for the Fort Hall, Puyallup and and Nisqually reservations.

A outdoor burn ban remains in effect on the Yakama Indian Reservation until further notice due to stagnant air conditions and increasing PM2.5 concentrations throughout Yakima County that are expected to persist through the weekend. Conditions will be reassessed on Monday.

The burn ban applies to all outdoor and agricultural burning, including camping and recreational fires within Yakama Indian Reservation boundaries. Ceremonial and traditional fires are exempt from the outdoor burn ban.

Please call 1-800-424-4EPA and ask for the FARR hotline or visit the Federal Air Rules for Reservations Web site for the current burn status: www.epa.gov/r10earth/FARR.htm.
