Pacific City Council appoints president, mayor pro tem

The 2014 Pacific City Council took final form at Monday's workshop as it voted in its new president and mayor pro tem for the year, as well as swearing in new councilmember Stacy Knudtson and returning councilmembers John Jones and Tren Walker.Knudtson, Walker and Jones, winners in the November general election, are to serve on the council until Dec. 31, 2017.

The 2014 Pacific City Council took final form at Monday’s workshop as it voted in its new president and mayor pro tem for the year, as well as swearing in new councilmember Stacy Knudtson and returning councilmembers John Jones and Tren Walker.Knudtson, Walker and Jones, winners in the November general election, are to serve on the council until Dec. 31, 2017.

The City’s other newcomer, councilmember Vic Kave, was sworn in on Dec. 9.

The council also nominated and elected Councilmember Josh Putnam as president for 2014. Among the responsibilities of the council president are chairing workshop meetings in accordance with rules and procedures and chairing regular council meetings in the mayor’s absence.

The council voted Jones to be mayor pro tem.

Committee assignments for 2014: Finance Committee (Jones, Kave, Putnam); Public Works Committee (Councilmembers Putnam, Clint Steiger, Gary Hulsey); Public Safety Committee (Hulsey, Steiger, Kave, alternate – Knudtson); Human Services Committee (Jones, Walker, Knudtson); Technology Committee (Jones, Walker, Knudtson).
