The City of Pacific has bid to purchase 130 3rd Ave. SE, property across the street from the fire station, adjacent to Pacific Centennial Park and property purchased last year (128 3rd Ave.).

The immediate plans are to clean up the properties and expand the park, east of City Hall, according to Mayor Richard Hildreth.

Future uses might include building a new community center, complete with meeting and public classrooms, as well as space for various health programs operated out of the senior center.

The City plans to purchase the property by means of an Interfund loan, which will be paid back largely by park impact fees and real estate excise tax.
