Pacific to host veterans event

Vets Meet Vets, an organization whose mission is to connect recent veterans with its seasoned veterans and services within their local area, will host a “veterans community builder event” Saturday at Pacific City Park, 600 Third Ave. SE.

In recognition of Armed Forces Day, the event will begin with registration at 11:30 a.m., followed by a celebration and main VMV event until 4 p.m. The program includes a tribute to veterans as well as workshops and exercises.

A coach orientation is scheduled for seasoned veterans only from 10-11:30 a.m.

Veterans and their families and friends are welcome.

VMV works to unite the veteran community with services available and to foster stronger bonds that will unite seasoned and recent veterans.

“I want to make sure that one of the tragedies of the Vietnam era never again occurs, and that is our returning veterans coming home to a world that was unable to meet their needs,” said Pacific Mayor Richard Hildreth. “There is no better person to help meet those needs as a fellow veteran. That is why I support this event.”
